Radiological Technologies

The first cycle of studies at the Faculty of Health Studies

About the Study Program

The radiological technology study program lasts four years and carries 240 ECTS credits, spanning eight semesters that combine theory, practical instruction, and professional training in healthcare institutions. The program trains competent professionals to operate conventional and digital equipment in diagnostic radiology, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine.

I

First year

Foundations of the profession: human anatomy and physiology, health protection systems, environmental health, sociology of health, introduction to statistics and informatics, and care in emergency situations.

II

Second year

Prelazak u struku: radiološka aparatura, konvencionalne radiološke metode, tehnike snimanja I, tehnike ultrazvuka, radiografska morfologija, osnovi kliničke prakse.

III

Third year

Napredne dijagnostičke i terapijske metode: kompjuterizirana tomografija, magnetna rezonansa, tehnike snimanja II, tehnologije i planiranje u radioterapiji, digitalna subtrakciona angiografija, prva stručna praksa.

IV

Fourth year

Nuklearna medicina i zaštita: scintigrafija i PET CT, radiofarmacija, terapija radionukleidima, dozimetrija, zaštita od zračenja, kontrola kvaliteta, dvije dodatne stručne prakse.

Scope of work after graduation

A graduate radiological technologist produces radiological images of optimal quality—either independently or as part of a team—operates sources of ionizing radiation, and participates in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, while strictly adhering to radiation protection measures.

S

Imaging and diagnostics

Production of radiological images of optimal quality on classic and digital devices, evaluation of the quality of the image and delivery to the radiologist for interpretation.

N

Nuclear medicine

Preparation of the patient and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, and work with devices that measure doses of radiopharmaceuticals introduced into the body.

R

Radiotherapy

Computer planning of radiation, CT planning, creation of individual protection for patients and precise positioning of the patient according to the given dose of radiation.

Z

Radiation protection

Implementation of radiation protection procedures, participation in dosimetry and in regulatory bodies dealing with practical and theoretical aspects of protection.

K

Quality Control

Radiological image quality assessment, performance of quality control tests, and participation in the quality improvement team for radiological facilities.

D

Digital systems

Working with PACS, RIS, and BIS systems, converting CT/MRI data into 3D models, and using CAD tools to design anatomical models.
