Laboratory technologies
Second cycle of studies at the Faculty of Health Studies
About the Study Program
The second cycle of studies in laboratory technologies lasts one year and carries 60 ECTS credits, distributed across two semesters. The program leads to the degree of Master of Laboratory Technologies, combining scientific research methodology, advanced evidence-based laboratory technologies, and the completion of a master's thesis.
First semester
Scientific research methodology, advanced laboratory technologies, healthcare management, analytical statistics, teaching in healthcare, along with two elective courses of choice (e.g., molecular biomarkers in cancer therapy, fundamentals of laboratory forensics, specific cytodiagnostic technologies).
Second semester
Evidence-based laboratory technologies and the creation of a master's thesis, as two mandatory subjects that round off the second cycle of studies.
Scope of work after graduation
The master's degree in laboratory technologies builds on the knowledge acquired in the first cycle with advanced laboratory technologies, specialized diagnostic methods and independent scientific research work, along with the ability to lead a team and improve laboratory practice.
Advanced laboratory technologies
Application of advanced laboratory technologies and critical evaluation of analytical methods in specialized diagnostic fields.
Molecular biomarkers
Application of molecular biomarkers in cancer therapy and specific cytodiagnostic technologies in clinical practice.
Laboratory Forensics
Knowledge of the fundamentals of laboratory forensics and its application in the forensic analysis of biological samples.
Healthcare Management
Organization and management of laboratory services, and management of resources and processes in accordance with healthcare quality standards.
Teaching and Mentoring
Educational work with students and colleagues; sharing knowledge and skills in clinical and academic settings.
Scientific research work
Conducting independent research in the field of laboratory technologies, applying analytical statistics, and preparing scientific and professional papers.
